Alpha has always been a centre of learning so we have welcomed the Apprentice scheme, formerly known as the Modern Apprentice scheme that the government is supporting. We took on our first apprentice a year ago and it has been a great success. Now that Hannah is a fully fledged Alpha employee, we are seeking additional apprentices in our studio and also on the business development team. There are many benefits to growing your own staff rather than taking on people who have learnt elsewhere. There is a training and management cost of course but this is also an opportunity to develop senior staff who benefit themselves from the teaching and mentoring experience. We have devised an initiative around our apprentice training programme called www.alphalaunchpad.co.uk. It’s about launching trainees into the workplace and it’s also about launching starter businesses. A true win-win situation that has received a phenomenal response.
